These surfaces embrace a contemporary trend in kitchens and bathrooms that have recently set a bold tone. As an antidote to light and sometimes ascetic colour palettes, this softer mood is much more striking and unexpected. From the classic luxury of  [5101 Empira Black](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/5101-empira-black/) and [5100 Vanilla Noir](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/5100-vanilla-noir/) to the evocative finishes of weathered [5810 Black Tempal](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/5810-black-tempal/) and earthy [6338 Woodlands](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/6338-woodlands/), our dark surface designs offer an intriguing range of captivating hues that bring warmth to the home and an evocative caress to the stone. ![Art of Darkness](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/hubfs/Email%20Assets%20Jan%202019/DSCF0994%20(2)-1-2.jpg) ## The story behind the designs Caesarstone continues to spearhead the market for innovative surfaces with the continuous development of captivating dark surface designs. Several years in the making, some of our most recent dark kitchen surfaces draw inspiration from the desert and the great outdoors, where Caesarstone’s in-house design team ventured to help shape the look and feel of the new products. Inspired by the organic materials found on their travels, the team experimented with how different stones hold colours at night. We loved that the pale beige veins tied in with the space’s original light oak beams, the brass handles, and the illuminated slate panels within the bar.”* Ruth Gray, designer at Planet Furniture [ Read the full case study ](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/case-study-bar-in-the-barn) **1** / 3 ![5820 Darcrest](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/hubfs/45529051-5820%20Darcrest-1-1.jpg) ## What our customers say *"I chose [5820 Darcrest](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/5820-darcrest/) for my 400-year-old cottage which is full of character and which has been given a sensitive modern renovation to give me the best of the old and new. This included an oak and glass kitchen extension that is a semi-open plan into the heart of the cottage."* *“Darcrest is such a fabulous product, even after I've had it for a year I still come down each morning and feel the wow factor of it. The subtle rusty colour variations work perfectly in my old cottage which has details in iron, so it brings together the old and the new perfectly. I love it!"* Amanda from Pulborough **2** / 3 ![5100 Vanilla Noir](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/hubfs/43865701-5100%20Vanilla%20Noir-1.jpeg) ## What our customers say *"[5100 Vanilla Noir](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/5100-vanilla-noir/) with its dark colour against the vanilla marbling with a matt finish makes an impact against the white matt units. The quality of the product is excellent and we were also given excellent tips on care and maintenance of the surface too.”* Carol from Merseyside **3** / 3 ![6134 Georgian Bluffs](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/hubfs/Landing%20Page%20Images/6134_Georgian_Bluffs_cook_book_fin.jpg) ### The Caesarstone Swatch Book Our Swatch Book has been specially created to provide the ultimate how-to guide in using Caesarstone in your own home including design tips and planning resources.  [ Download ](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/request-a-swatch-book) ![Caesarstone Fabricator or Fitter](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/hubfs/Blog%20Images/CS%20Fabricator%202.jpg) ### Where to buy dark worktops Once you’ve received your samples, our kitchen worktops are available to buy from a number of stone worktop fabricators and design showrooms around the UK.
